Jeff Spec : Sneakerboxxx

Sometimes my mail is full of mails from producers and MC's showing off skills and spreading their things all over the net.. And once in a while, a gem drops in and shows its true color.. Jeff Spec is one of those - His album Sneakerboxxx isnt his first and I got carried away by this canadian MC, doing his thing in a goodfeeling way. Much like Slum Village or an old tribe album, this vibe for the album for spreading smiles all over... I had that feeling at once and had to share it - This album is in my player for some serious listening, because I know that thia album will lift you up when you need it.. Max Zipursky and jeff himself are producing it and it shows love for the sound of wellmade hip hop.. Nas can say what he wants - It's never been dead in the presence of Jeff Spec..
Especially 'On my feet', Microphone Bully' and '80s baby' are evidence of good work and I cant wait to listen it again... And maybe even remix it...

YC the Cynic is in NY listening and selecting beats for his project, DJ Grain of the Movement Fam in Australia are finding skilled mc's for a project and Ive got a new kid on the block doing some old school keys on an instrumental album... So thing's are busy as always...

This Blog have been a saint several times, when I needed a acapella and they do have a nice quality of acapellas.. They had a remix contest in May and I entered with Sick Jacken and my "Legend of the Mask Redux" and it won...

Imadrax

Well.. For the last 9 weeks Ive been sick. And In a way that I wish for no one... First I had problems breathing in the right nostral and a fews days later the left - This led to some serious snorring and some lousy sleep.. I contacted my doctor who passed me on to a specialist. The first had an opening for me 3rd of June and the second had me in earlier, meaning I had to wait 5 days with heavy snot and heavy breathing, not smelling anything..
The specialist examined me and gave me a Nosehorn and a nosespray - To make the Nosehorn work as it should, I was supposed to have salt water running from one nostral to another but nothing.. The only result after the 4th time was the pressure in my head went from the nose, spreading to my left ear, reducing my hearing to a minimum..
So now Im not only not smelling anything, but I not hearing half of things my wife tells me, not hearing whatever my kids wants and not hearing anything - I had to read my wife's lips to get it severals times a day... So I went back to the specialist and got some medicine, this time Imadrax which I feel is working the pressure in my head are almost gone, my hearing is better and Im happy.. So now Ive gotts get over

R.I.P. GURU - FUCK SOLAR

Keith Elam aka Guru died the 19th of April. He shall be missed and remembered as a part of legendary Gangstarr, and I will personally salute in his memory.. And I promise to dig in the mystery surrounding him, especailly in the light of Solar and his action regarding his role in Guru's life..
Keith's nephew made a video on youtube, sniffling and expressing true feelings towards his uncle, being concerned with Solar being a sneaky little rat, doing the Anne Nicole Smith trick by being a nurse/friend sucking life and fortune out of the poor victim, feeding of the victim...
Solar have made documents stating him as the one making all decisions on behalf of Guru, and denying his nephew and friends to see Guru..
And the last letter - Partly written by Guru and mainly written by Solar..

So Im here, yelling out for justice and let Solar get his.. The more he speaks on the rumours of him being the true composer behind the letter...

And in the meantime, imma listen to a tribute mix made by his partner in rhyme and old friend DJ Premier Download

It's almost a tradition to release my work, when a remix contest comes to an end on KevinNottingham.com and this time Im proud to present 14 instrumentals ready to lay vocals on and complete the joints, so if MC's feels temped, go ahead but holla back with the result..
Every time I begin on a project, its hard to see the direction and great to feel the rush setting the course for another album.. As the classic LL Joint, a lot of the original samples came from James Brown, so it wasnt hard to make it funky, but I had to stear away from the sound whenever possible to make the album 'breath'..

So KevinNottingham did another remix contest.. Im all in, and as usual Im doing the instrumental album, despite the fact that my remix in week 7 won and im going in for second..

Ive having these beats lying around for a while, waiting for them to grow and become solid beats.. The title came from the fact that I wanted to add something to them.. Beats csan be found by the millions on the net, so I went outside the box to make something different to them..

For 2010

Its been a while... Ive been doing beats, but not as many and not as good as I wanted them to be.. But then Kevin throws another contest, and my mojo got back... Im doing fire with the contest and Ive made a connection to a talented kid from the Bronx called YC the Cynic and Ive got some ideas for him with my beats, so keep your fingers crossed...

As for albums - So far, Ive got nothing planned - I lack of good acapellas and good themes, so at the moment Im doing YC's project...
